Prof. (Dr.) Ujjwal Kanti Debnath is a renowned orthopaedics consultant at Manipal Hospitals, Dhakuria, Kolkata, with over 34 years of experience in Trauma, Orthopaedics, and Spinal Surgery. Holding qualifications including an MBBS, MS in Orthopaedics, and DM in Orthopaedics from the University of Nottingham, UK, he is renowned for his proficiency in Joint Arthroplasty (Hip & Knee), Arthroscopy across all joints, and Spinal Surgery, having completed over 10,000 surgeries within these domains. Furthermore, Dr. Debnath's contributions to orthopaedic research are extensive, with over 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals and 8 book chapters in prestigious international publications. This extensive body of work demonstrates his commitment to progressing knowledge and innovation in the orthopaedic field, solidifying his position as a leader in both orthopaedic surgery and academia.Dr. Debnath has expanded his knowledge and skills in all aspects of Orthopaedics Surgery from University hospitals in England, Wales & Ireland. He worked as a Spinal Fellow at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, where he completed his thesis for the Doctorate on "Factors predicting the outcome following surgery in lumbar spondylolysis" and was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine, DM (Orthopaedics) at the University of Nottingham.Dr. Debnath's commitment to advancing patient care extends beyond clinical practice. He is the founder and director of the philanthropic spinal surgery global outreach programme 'Operation Straight Spine' at Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratisthan since 2005, collaborating with Dr. Jeffrey McConnell, MD,  the surgical team from Allentown, USA, and Dr. Neena Seth from Guys & St Thomas' team in London, UK. Additionally, Dr. Debnath serves as a associate professor of Orthopaedics to postgraduate trainees in Trauma & Orthopaedics for MS (Orth) and DNB (Orth).
